The dead man lunged across the road toward me, too-white teeth clacking as they chewed at imaginary flesh. Its eyes were sharklike black orbs, and they tracked me as I moved. Its right foot had been crushed and was dragging behind the zombie, slowing it down. Rancid breath laced with the smell of carrion and blood washed over my face and caught in my throat.
Big Serial Killer Z Sale
If you subscribe to my newsletter or follow me on Bluesky, you’ll know that a few weeks ago I was due to run a Bookbub promotion on the first Serial Killer Z book. Bookbub promos are a) very hard to get and b) very expensive. Which made it particularly annoying when technical difficulties at Amazon prevented me from discounting the book, meaning the promo automatically got cancelled, leaving me hundreds of dollars out of pocket.
Sunday Snippet – 21st April 2024
Jackson stared up at the women hanging on the wall, trying to decide which one he should add to his collection. He licked his lips. His mouth was dry, sticky. None of these particular items were available back in the U.S. At least not unless you were prepared to pay exorbitant import duties. Neither Jackson nor his dad were going to do that, and Jackson had brought a second suitcase with him just for this sort of opportunity.
AI vs Artists
I occasionally post short films on a Friday, but this week, I’m going for something different – a documentary on “AI” image generators.
“Like you’ve never seen a broken man”
I discovered St. Vincent thanks to a guest appearance on The Stephen Colbert Show, and her albums have been in regular rotation ever since.
A Farewell to Glitch Mitchell
I’m doing a bit of a reset of my indie publishing career at the moment and part of that process involves cleaning up my back catalogue.
AI Art is Theft
I still haven’t written my post about my thoughts on AI (mostly because I’m trying to work out how to express all those in less than 10,000 words). But if you follow me on social media (mostly Bluesky) you’ll know that I’m not a fan.
Sunday Snippet – 14th April 2024
I’m supposed to be writing so it’s the perfect time to post a new snippet.
I’m going way back into the archives to an abandoned story today. It looks like this one was written in November 2014. I never finished the story, and I really have no idea what it’s about, but like I said, I’m procrastinating, so here it is anyway. As always, this is unedited.
My First Screenplay (Award)
A while back, I decided to try my hand screenwriting. Rather than trying to come up with a new story and adapt to screenwriting at the same time, I decided to adapt one of my short stories.
“All dry and English slow”
True to type, I’m going with another sad song for my first Music Wednesday post of 2024.
